It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year at Wilderstein !!

Halls will be decked and doors will be open for what has become Wilderstein Historic Site’s quintessential holiday tradition.  A Queen Anne mansion soaring high above the Hudson River in Rhinebeck, Wilderstein stands out for its unique combination of stunning natural beauty and eclectic Victorian architecture.  Each year, florists and designers transform the Wilderstein mansion into a magical holiday spectacular. 

Wilderstein’s yuletide celebration kicks-off Thanksgiving weekend and continues through the end of December.  There is no better time to visit than this.  Touring Wilderstein’s magnificent interiors is always a remarkable experience, but is especially so with mantels, doors and stairways festooned in mix of period and modern decorations.

Chef and author Laura Pensiero will be at Wilderstein during tour hours on Saturday, December 5 beginning at 2:30pm.  Owner of the renowned restaurant Gigi Trattoria in Rhinebeck, Laura will share tasteful samplings of her cuisine and sign copies of her new book, Hudson Valley Mediterranean.  The cookbook, which showcases her delicious interpretations of traditional Italian dishes created from the bounty of the Hudson Valley, is the perfect holiday gift with local flavor.

Not-to-be-missed is Wilderstein’s annual Yuletide Tea on Saturday, December 12 at 1pm.  This event is a seasonal mainstay for tea enthusiasts from around the region.  Guests enjoy a festive afternoon featuring fine tea, homemade cakes, cookies and delicate finger sandwiches.  Be sure to make reservations early, as seating is limited.

Wilderstein’s picturesque grounds are the ideal setting for a winter walk, and holiday shopping opportunities abound in the Wilderstein gift shop.  Offerings include a variety of books, old-fashioned toys, home goods, souvenirs and other items.  Best of all, purchases directly support efforts to maintain and preserve Wilderstein Historic Site for future generations. 

Get into the spirit of the yuletide by visiting Wilderstein!  The mansion is open for holiday tours from 1 to 4 PM on Thanksgiving weekend (November 27, 28 & 29) and all weekends in December (December 5 & 6, 12 & 13, 19 & 20, 26 & 27).  For more information, call 845-876-4818.
